British Columbia’s largest wine tasting and farmers’ market returns to Penticton.

Cropped by Valley First will feature a variety of vendors, including foods and homemade products, along with the province’s renowned wineries at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre this weekend.

“This is one of our signature events and this year people will have the ability to purchase wine from a fully stocked shop at Cropped,” said Katia Plotnikoff, public relations and marketing communications with the Okanagan Wine Festivals. “Cropped is the place to taste, tour and go home with some goodies.”

In its’ second year, Cropped is an addition to the popular grand finale wine tasting evenings — a Okanagan Wine Festivals classic event. It comes towards the end of the 10-day Fall Wine Festival as one of the many events during the busy harvest-time celebrations.

“The fall wine festival is the longest running of our festivals and easily one of the most recognized. People come from all over to the festival from places like Montreal, Toronto and it even attracts people from Europe. We are very proud of the awesome amount of culture represented at our events,” said Plotnikoff.

More than 80 wineries will be represented at Cropped with plenty to feast on from the farmers’ market in a relaxed and fun-filled atmosphere that will bring the best of the harvest indoors.

“For those who can’t get out to all the wineries they want to, it is all there under one roof,” said Plotnikoff.

The Dairy Farmers of Canada will also be onsite offering seminars, highlighting the cheeses of Canada and the best ways to combine them with your favourite wines.

To tie together the plethora of food and wine, there will be five difference musical acts along with a well-stocked wine store.

As with all the Okanagan Wine Festivals signature events, this is a Get Home Safe event, with free taxi rides sponsored by the B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch.

Tickets for Cropped are still available by visiting www.thewinefestivals.com. Cropped runs from 6 to 9 p.m.on Oct. 7 and 8.
