Discussion about an apartment building proposed for Okanagan Falls has been deferred by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen board.

The deferral came because the developer has proposed some significant amendments to the development proposal, said Bill Newell, chief administrative officer of the regional district.

The initial plan had been for a proposed 60-unit development to be constructed at 5356 8th Ave., Okanagan Falls. At present, the two properties are being used as a campground. The surrounding development includes a residential use and park space to the west, commercial developments to the south and a park in the east.

The unamended proposal was for two six-storey buildings with 30 units in each.

The required zoning amendment would change the zoning of the property from Campground Commercial (CT2) to Okanagan Falls Town Centre Site Specific (OFTCs) and will require the maximum density at 106 units per hectare.

An electronic public information meeting on the development was held in early November.
