Oliver’s Pot Doctor had another unwelcome visitor on Oct. 19 when the Ministry of Public Safety’s Community Safety Unit (CSU) showed up with the Oliver RCMP.
The shop, which was set on fire by an unidentified individual earlier in 2022, was the target of enforcement under the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act.

The enforcement action is the latest in active action by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General against unlicenced cannabis retailers and illegal sellers across the province, according to a statement from the Ministry in response to questions from Black Press.
“All along, the aim has been voluntary compliance, and we have been very clear that once legal cannabis retail outlets became operational in a community the illegal retailers will continue to face enforcement from the CSU,” reads the statement.
The CSU is stepping up its enforcement and will be making further visits to unlicensed businesses across the province.
The Ministry noted that they are unable to comment on specific enforcement actions that they have taken or will take.
According to Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth with the Oliver RCMP, officers were present to ensure the safety of the CSU’s investigators while enforcing the CCLA.
