Osoyoos has re-elected Sue McKortoff after some last-minute controversies in the lead-up to the Oct. 15 election.

McKortoff received 1,109 votes with her challenger Dustin Sikora close behind with 972 votes.

Ahead of election day, the husband of McKortoff’s campaign financier was arrested for stealing Sikora’s election signs. The man arrested said McKortoff had no knowledge of what he did.

Sikora is part of the Osoyoos First, a slate running in the town’s Oct. 15 election. They shared a pair of videos that reveals the same man tampering with signs of mayoral candidate Dustin Sikora.

Johnny Cheong saw the most votes with 1,554.

The second-highest vote went to Osoyoos First’s Zachary Poturica with 1,510 votes.

Also elected to council are incumbents Jim King with 1,212 and Myers Bennett is in with 1,196 votes.
