More than 700 Summerland residents went the night without power and 162 customers are still experiencing an outage on Wednesday, August 4.

Those customers are expected to be without power for the rest of the day, the District of Summerland said Wednesday morning.

Around 9 p.m. residents and businesses in the Deer Ridge area, all the way to the Giants Head Elementary area experienced a power disruption.

By 8 a.m. Wednesday power was restored to 670 customers. The remaining 162 customers that are still experiencing a power outage can expect it to last through the night, said the District. That has since been updated to say power is back on for those residents.

Summerland’s electrical utility crews worked through the night to restore most of the powers.

Summerland experienced a brief wind storm last night but it’s not sure if the two are connected.
