Firefighters doused flames before they spread to nearby tires

Quick reaction by Penticton firefighters knocked down a pallet fire at Kal Tire on Government Street in Penticton Tuesday afternoon.

Penticton Fire was called around 2:40 p.m. when employees discovered that car rims stacked on pallets were on fire.

Originally, it was believed to be spreading to the nearby tires.

RCMP are also on scene.

By 2:50, firefighters had knocked down the blaze but were still putting water on it.

It isn’t known at this time how the rims and pallets caught fire.
