The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has elected a new chair and vice-chair for the coming year.

At the board’s inaugural meeting, held on Nov. 4, the board members elected Mark Pendergraft, director for rural Osoyoos, as the chair, with Princeton mayor Spencer Coyne re-elected as vice-chair.

Pendergraft replaces outgoing chair Karla Kozakevich from Electoral Area E, representing Naramata. Earlier this fall, Kozakevich announced she would not be seeking re-election for the chair position. She had served as chair for the past five years.

For the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional Hospital District, Oliver mayor Martin Johansen was elected chair while Osoyoos mayor Suzan McCortoff was re-elected vice-chair.

Johansen replaces Penticton Coun. Judy Sentes as chair of the hospital district.

The regional district and hospital district hold their inaugural meetings on the first board meeting following Nov. 1 each year.
