Penticton RCMP gave chase to a van stolen from the Penticton Boys and Girls Club on Saturday.

Responding to a commercial alarm at the club on Manitoba Street around 8 a.m., an RCMP member observed a light blue 2002 Ford Windstar drive away at a high rate of speed.

“The RCMP member attempted to catch up to the vehicle which drove through a parking lot and then through three stop signs,” said Sgt. Rick Dellebuur. “The RCMP member terminated his attempt of catching up to and stopping the vehicle due to public safety concerns.”

Mounties said entrance was gained into the Penticton Boys and Girls Club through a window. Once inside three cell phones, some food and four sets of keys to the vans parked outside were taken. Neighbours advised RCMP that they saw a possible suspect described as possibly female, short in stature, wearing a black toque, red scarf around their face, white sweater and a black and red or orange backpack.

Dellebuur said a gas card was also stolen and had been used later that day at the Petro Can in Osoyoos then again on Sunday in Rock Creek. The van is described as having a Boys and Girls Club logo on the side and has B.C. licence 600 BRW. Anyone with information concerning this incident are asked to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
