Penticton residents came out in full force to get their breakfast on at Denny’s, meaning the Salvation Army Food Bank is in for a sizable donation.

The Penticton location of the chain offered its Original Grand Slam breakfast for $1.99 on April 9 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with funds benefitting the food bank. The meal includes two scrambled eggs, two pancakes, two pieces of bacon and two sausages.

Staff didn’t have the exact fundraising total as a result of the event but said they served 500 Grand Slams during the promotion. This means that in the span of seven hours they scrambled 1,000 eggs, flipped 1,000 pancakes, crisped 1,000 pieces of bacon and fried 1,000 sausages.

The Kelowna Denny’s will be offering the same deal on April 26 to benefit the Kelowna General Hospital’s project to build JoeAnna’s House.
