Most of Penticton’s city facilities will be closed Monday in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
With Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s declaration of a federal holiday to mark the passing of Her Majesty, most city facilities will be closed on Sept. 19 and reopen Tuesday morning.

The closures affect City Hall, City Yards, Penticton Public Library and the Penticton Museum and Archives.
Bookings at McLaren Arena, though, will be honoured by the city despite the holiday and the Penticton Community Centre will also be open as per the current schedule. Existing programs set for that day will continue to be offered.
While next Monday is a holiday for federal government employees, it will be up to the provinces to determine whether the day applies to other workplaces and schools.
Garbage collection in Penticton on Sept. 19 will not be impacted, the city said.
The holiday was declared federally in response to the U.K.’s upcoming state funeral for the Queen in London on Sept. 19.
