There were at least two small fires in alleyways in downtown Penticton Tuesday night.
Penticton fire was called out to a rubbish fire in the alley in the 100 block of Ellis Street around 8:30 p.m. Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze, said assistant fire chief Rob Trupp.
Then 25 minutes later another rubbish fire was called in at the alley near the Victoria Church shelter in the 400 block of Winnipeg. That fire was also put out by firefighters.
Around 10:55 p.m., firefighters were called out to the 1700 block of Main Street for a small shrub fire. The blaze was extinguished prior to arrival of PFD.
In February, two cars were set on fire in one night, one caught on video. A video shows a man pouring gasoline on a vehicle and it instantly catching fire on Churchill Street. He drove off on a bicycle along with another man on a bike.
That same night a car was torched beside Victoria Church shelter. That vehicle didn’t sustain the same amount of damage. No suspects were found and police continue to investigate.

Last summer, Penticton RCMP were investigating multiple suspicious dumpsters and garbage bin fires all over downtown. One weekend in August, multiple bins and rubbish were set alight behind Main Street businesses.
