Penticton Mayor Dan Ashton has filed nomination papers at City Hall to seek a second term.

Dan Ashton will be seeking a second term as mayor of the City of Penticton.

According to nomination papers filed Oct. 11 at City Hall, Ashton has decided to seek re-election for the top job on council.

His formal announcement is expected on Thursday morning.

He is the second mayoralty candidate to file nomination papers for the position. Former councillor Katie Robinson filed her papers on Oct. 4.

Julius Bloomfield, local realtor and former Green party candidate, announced last week his intentions to seek the mayor’s position, although he has not officially filed nomination papers as of yet. Perennial candidate Benny Wolfe also indicated this summer his desire to seek the mayoralty, although no documentation has been submitted to that effect.
