Ever wonder what happened to all those tiles that were painted over the summer?

The City of Penticton is currently trying to find a home for the mural created from those little artworks, but the Canada 150 Mosaic Tile Project have posted a copy of our finished mural along with a video about its making.

Over July 2016, Pentictonites were asked to participate in a cross-Country project, painting squares to become part of the project in celebration of our community and the country's 150th birthday.

The goal was to create a mural involving all provinces and territories, which will include over 80,000 paintings and 150 individual murals, representing both a cultural mosaic and a visual portrayal of history. Each individual mural represents a train car, which joins the other murals to form a 365-metre long virtual mosaic train representing the Confederation.

The concept is for locals to create a mural depicting the community, with each tile representing an individual vision, and then assemble them into a grand mosaic. The mural created by Penticton participants will remain in the community as a historic legacy commemorating the anniversary.
