Penticton Police Dog Service helped nab two men who took off running from a stolen vehicle they abandoned.

On Sept. 18, Mounties had been following a stolen vehicle, that came from Chilliwack to the Okanagan Provincial Park. Cpl. Brad Myhre said at the north end of the campground two males ditched the vehicle and ran off northbound.

RCMP members pursued the two males on foot with the assistance of the police dog service, catching them shortly after they began running.

Myhre said one of the males arrested was from Chilliwack and had a lengthy criminal record and outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The second male was from Penticton and Myhre said he also has a lengthy record.

Both were arrested for possession of stolen property  and held for a bail hearing the next day.

The two men are facing a number of charges.
