Penticton RCMP arrested a man on four-year-old warrants from Alberta, related to impaired driving and failure to appear in court charges.

A news release from the detachment notes “numerous driving offences” from Alberta dating back to 2014 for the 47-year-old man, who was arrested during routine patrols by the Community Support and Enforcement Team.

The news release does not state a date or time that the arrest occurred.

“The team conducted inquiries through the Provincial Fugitive Return Program, and determined that the male was, indeed, wanted, and that the Province of Alberta would extend the jurisdiction of the warrants,” the news release said.

“Subsequently, the program has arranged return of the male to Alberta, where the warrants were issued.”

The detachment said the Fugitive Return Program is a “valuable tool to hold accused individual accountable” for criminal matters across jurisdictions.

“Penticton RCMP will be utilizing this program for future individuals that attempt to circumvent the criminal process.”
