The City of Penticton and IBEW Local 213 have reached a negotiated collective agreement for Electrical Utility employees.

The City of Penticton and IBEW Local 213 have reached a negotiated collective agreement for Electrical Utility employees.

“The City is very happy that we have a contract settlement in the city electrical utility,” said Mayor Dan Ashton. “This agreement strikes a balance between keeping an eye on costs and ensuring the City remains competitive when it comes to attracting and retaining skilled employees.”

The three-year agreement calls for a one per cent increase retroactive to April 1, 2011, followed by one per cent increases effective April 1, 2012 and April 1, 2013.

The agreement was ratified by the 10 union members on Tuesday, April 3.

“IBEW Local 213 and the members are pleased with the Collective Agreement and looks forward to a continued relationship working with the City to further enhance the service and reliability of the Electrical Utility,” said Rod Russell, IBEW Local 213 assistant business manager.
