The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce will be hosting two “speed-dating campaign style” forums on Oct. 1 for mayoral, councillor, and school trustee candidates.

Forum one is Meet Your City Councillor Candidates and will run from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Days Inn Riverside Conference Centre. Forum two, Meet Your Mayor & School Trustee Candidates, will run from 6 to 8:15 p.m. at the Sandman Hotel Okanagan Room.

How it works is that candidates will draw the number of their starting table. Once all candidates are in place and participants are seated, the first round will begin. After candidate introductions, participants will have five minutes to talk and ask questions about the candidate and their campaign platform.

A bell will ring once five minutes has passed and the candidates will move onto the next table. There will be 12 rounds in total. Pre-registration is required for participants of both forums and can be done online at www.penticton.org/events.

The participation fee for forum one is $25 and includes a lunch. Forum two’s participation fee is $10 and includes light snacks with beverages available at the cash bar.

All electoral candidates interested in participating in the forums must register their attendance in advance by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 778-476-3111.
