Penticton Vees score with KidSport

National champ Vees net nearly $8,500 from Valley First for Penticton KidSport

The newly-crowned RBC Cup Champions, the Penticton Vees, have more to smile about than a new trophy in the cabinet, their on-ice successes have scored $8,450 for Penticton KidSport.

As part of Valley First Credit Union’s 65th anniversary, and in recognition of the Vees’ winning ways, Valley First pledged to donate $65 to KidSport for every goal the Vees scored until the end of their championship run. With the Vees scoring 130 times en route to their RBC Cup win, $8,450 is now on its way to the KidSport coffers.

“What the Vees have achieved over the last several months is simply amazing,” said Valley First president Paulette Rennie. “Like Valley First, the Vees are a local success story. They have been a source of inspiration and pride for everyone in the South Okanagan and we applaud them for becoming national champions.”

Many young Penticton athletes dream of emulating the new national Junior A champions. To do so, they need the opportunity to participate in sports and learn the lessons of belonging, leadership and teamwork. The charitable donation to KidSport will help make participation more accessible for those who otherwise may not have had the financial means required to take part.

“Strengthening community pride and creating exceptional results have been at the heart of everything the Vees have accomplished this season,” said Rennie. “Their efforts, and our donation to KidSport, will help spread that passion and drive to succeed to the next generation of champions.”
