Though fans aged 18 and younger will still get into Penticton Vees games for free, the team has made a number of updates to its child and student entry policy that will take effect Wednesday night, Oct. 26.
In conjunction with the South Okanagan Events Centre, the team says all attendees in Grade 8 or lower must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the game.
Other updates include:
• All children/students must enter through Gate 1 (main entrance) of the SOEC
• All children/students must present photo identification (student ID, driver’s license, etc.) to receive a game ticket at the Valley First Box Office and to enter the venue on game night
“These changes come into effect immediately and are a result of an increase in youth attendance and activity at Vees’ home games,” representatives from the Vees wrote.
“The Vees and SOEC are committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable game experience for all fans and participants.”
Updates to the child and student entry policy go into effect Oct. 26, when Penticton hosts the Cranbrook Bucks.
While the team says an increase in youth attendance prompted the changes, year-to-year figures were not provided and all inquiries related to entry policies were directed to the SOEC.
Non-local fans aged 18 and younger will be charged $8 per ticket, the team added.
The Western News has reached out to the SOEC for further comment on the mid-season updates.
Penticton aims to win its 12th straight game and 27th in a row dating back to last year’s playoffs on Wednesday night against Cranbrook. Puck drop is at 6:30 p.m.
