The Vancouver Police Department is in the midst of a province-wide recruiting campaign and representatives will be in the Okanagan this coming week looking for candidates.
“We are travelling to Penticton, Vernon and Kelowna to answer questions and provide potential applicants with more information about being a police officer in Vancouver,” said Sgt. John Gibbons, with the VPD.
“It’s a career like no other and we are looking for people who want to make a difference.”
The department is looking to fill about 80 front line vacancies by the end of the year. This includes police officers, community safety personnel, jail guards and traffic authority members.
“There are many benefits to working with the VPD,” said Gibbons.
“For example, after some time as a patrol officer, you have several options to move to other units and advance your career.”
Representatives will be in the Okanagan on the following days and times:

Penticton
Okanagan College - 2:30 to 5 p.m.
Tuesday
Vernon
Okanagan College - noon to 4 p.m.
Wednesday
Kelowna
Delta Grand Okanagan Resort - 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Justice Institute of B.C. Okanagan -11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Okanagan College - 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
