Police searching for poppy thief

Penticton police are on the lookout for a thief who stole a Remembrance Day poppy donation bin from a local gas station.

The suspect police are searching for in the theft of a poppy donation bin on Nov. 9.

Police are searching for a suspect after a poppy donation container was stolen from the Shell gas station on Fairview Road Nov. 9.

The suspect was a caucasian, 35-year-old male who appeared disheveled, skinny and tall wearing a black jacket and carrying a black backpack as well as wearing a brown cowboy hat.

The theft was reported at 2:50 p.m.

Police said it may be the same male who had previously stolen poppy donation bins one day earlier.

An abandoned bike and backpack were located at Industrial Place where the poppies were found, along with the hat and jacket that matched the description of the suspect, but the cash was missing.
