RCMP are seeking information about a boat involved in a collision on Shuswap Lake.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, Chase RCMP received a report of the collision that occurred around 10 p.m.

Witnesses stated that a boat without any navigation lights was travelling westbound near Anglemont when it struck another vessel moored on the water, said Sgt. Barry Kennedy in a Sept. 27 media release.

“Witnesses shone lights at the suspect boat which then took off towards Magna Bay,” said Kennedy, adding several police officers were in the area but could not locate the vessel.

Officers from the West Coast Marine Section, who were in the area, were able to locate the moored vessel and notified the owner.

“The suspect boat was described as having 4-6 people on board, with loud music and having a polished aluminum wakeboard over top of the vessel,” said Kennedy, noting this boat would have sustained damage to the port side. “Anyone who may have seen a boat with this type of damage is asked to contact the Chase RCMP (250-679-3221).”
