Couple met by fake firearm

Around 1:25 a.m. Dec. 30 a female reported that she and her husband went to an address on Van Horne Street and a male answered with a firearm.

Police said both were intoxicated and the husband took a taxi to the residence to confront the male for selling crack to his wife.

The female reportedly tried to kick the door in when she was confronted by the firearm, which police advised was a pellet gun.

String of break and enters

A string of residential break and enters occurred in Penticton over the holidays.

A break and enter occurred on McCulloch Drive on Dec. 30 where the suspects entered through the garage door leaving with two 42-inch LG TVs, a child’s red and black electric scooter with a grey throttle, a white Xbox One and a safe containing birth certificates, passports and other important documents.

Police said tracks in the snow, possibly from a grocery cart, were observed leaving the area towards an alleyway. The matter is still under investigation.

Another break-in occurred overnight on Dec. 30 at Westhills Aggregates. Two shipping containers were entered and two Champion generators were taken.

On Jan. 1 a break-in was reported at a residence on Victoria Drive and police said two sets of partially snowed in mountain bike tracks were spotted in the driveway alongside footprints.

A Dell laptop, an HP touchscreen laptop, an iPad 3, a Canon Rebel DSLR camera, an 18-55 millimetre lens, a Sony digital camera, a Kodak Z650 camera, multiple bottles of liquor, spare keys, wallets and identification were taken.

RCMP said a credit card stolen from the residence was used at the 7-Eleven and video surveillance has been reviewed.

The resident told police they believed the incident happened at around 4 a.m. The investigation is ongoing. Police were unable to comment on whether or not the residents were home at the time.

A break in to a residence on Sutherland Road was reported by the residents who live out of town. The front window was smashed in and furniture, a snowblower, wine and clothing were missing.

Fight at Cheers

Police responded to Cheers the Church at 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 28 for a report of two males fighting.

Police attended and found an intoxicated male outside who was arrested for assault. The other male denied medical attention and was escorted out of the shelter. The assaulting male was later released without charges.
