A Princeton man, whose body was recovered earlier this week on the banks of the Similkameen River near Hedley, apparently died of natural causes.

There is no criminality suspected in the death of Pierre Pion, said RCMP Corporal Chad Parsons.

Police were alerted July 15 to the spotting of possible human remains in the Old Hedley Road area, where Pion was last seen June 20.

A search involving RCMP, a helicopter and Princeton GSAR located the body that was later identified with the assistance of the coroner, said Parsons.

RCMP issued a press release June 29, stating they were looking for Pion to check on his wellbeing, after he walked away from a local hotel and hadn’t been seen in over a week.
