RCMP are on the hunt for a man wanted for attempted murder after a shooting that took place in Oliver.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Afshin Maleki Ighani, 45, who was allegedly involved in a shooting on Wednesday.

The incident took place on April 19 in the area of Station Street in Oliver. An adult male suffered a non life-threatening gunshot injury as a result of the encounter. RCMP said the suspect and victim were known to each other.

RCMP describe Ighani as 175 centimetres tall (5’9), 75 kilograms (166 pounds), bald and has brown eyes.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts or sees Ighani is asked to immediately call 911, Crimstoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or contact their nearest police detachment. RCMP warn the public not to approach Ighani, as he is considered armed and dangerous.

According to court records, Ighani was scheduled to make a first appearance on May 10 to face charges of possession of a controlled substance.

The Oliver RCMP are now seeking the public’s assistance in locating Ighani, who is also facing several other charges including uttering threats, pointing a firearm, possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm without a license, occupying a vehicle knowing their was a prohibited/restricted firearm, possession of a loaded firearm without a license, breach of recognizance and possession of firearm while prohibited.
