RCMP identify Hedley homicide victim

Police are investigating a homicide at a residence in Hedley.

UPDATE 12:30 p.m. March 11

The identity of the victim of a homicide at a residence in Hedley has been released by RCMP.

"RCMP have identified the victim as 55-year-old, Douglas Smith of Hedley, B.C.," said Const. Lesley Smith, North District media relations officer. "The Major Crime Unit continue to investigate and are looking for any witnesses who can provide police with information about this tragic incident."

RCMp were called to the residence at Richter Road at approximately 8 p.m. on March 6 where they located Smith.

UPDATE 12:54 p.m. March 8

RCMP have now confirmed the deceased person is a 55-year-old male.

"RCMP are now investigating the homicide of a 55-year-old man in Hedley," said Cpl. Lesley Smith. "No further information will be provided at this time as the investigation is ongoing."

Police are on scene of a "suspicious death" at a residence in Hedley.

Const. Lesley Smith said the Southeast District Major Crime Unit and B.C. Coroners Service are at the residence where a deceased male was located. RCMP were called to the residence at approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

"This investigation is in the early stages as police are still gathering information to determine what happened," said Smith. "Further information is not available at this time, however, when new information is available an updated release may be distributed."
