Needed repairs to Penticton’s waterfront Kiwanis Pier along the shoreline of Okanagan Lake are set to begin next week.

The repairs re being carried out to reverse damage which the pier sustained during the spring high water event of 2017 leading to its closure for the remainder of 2017 through 2018.

“The City is looking forward to getting this project underway and returning this popular landmark to a secure and safe state for all residents and visitors to once again enjoy,” said design supervisor, Tyler Figgitt.

Scheduled work includes replacing damaged decking, guard rails, pile caps, pilings and braces. The time required to complete the repairs is planned from early September 2018 through to March 2019 — weather permitting.
