Road check results in marijuana bust

Kelowna man arrested after police uncover 23 pounds of marijuana

A road check by RCMP and conservation officers uncovered 23 pounds of marijuana.

On Nov. 6 South Okanagan conservation officers along with RCMP conducted a seasonal road checkpoint near Oliver to ensure adherence to B.C. Wildlife Act regulations and Criminal Code firearm safety regulations. A 50-year-old Kelowna man was found in possession of the marijuana and has charges pending.

“The man’s vehicle was checked during the enforcement and public safety initiative conducted on Highway 97 north of Oliver at Vaseux Lake,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk. “The B.C. conservation officers and RCMP arrested the 50-year-old Kelowna resident for drug possession related offences following a search of his vehicle which uncovered the package of marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash.”
