The Penticton Fire Department responded to calls about flames showing on the roof of the Joy’s Buffet at the Cannery Trade Centre Monday afternoon. When firefighters arrived they saw men on the roof dousing the flames with snow.

According to firefighters on scene, work was being done on the roof at at some point a spark started a small fire. The blaze was put out quickly by the roof crew but smoke got into the building.

Employees left the building while the smoke was cleared out.

Firefighters checked for hot spots but there didn’t appear to be any.
