After the weekend theft of some valuable computer equipment, founder Dennis Walker of the SO Country Internet Radio was down but definitely not out.
The Toshiba laptop that went missing on Sunday contained the critical news-editing capability, so he was unable to provide some aspects of his regular programming such as interviews.
“I do a lot of local news and I’ve got all this audio (from special events) but I just can’t use it right now but hopefully I may be up and running by the end of the week,” said Walker. “I’ve got this old one (computer) rigged up but I can’t do news because I don’t have that system and that’s where the value is.”
According to Sgt. Rick Dellebuur of the Adidas Sportsplex, which is also home to Walker’s studio, was broken into between 6:30 and 7 a.m.
It appeared the lock on one of the side doors was jimmied giving thieve(s) access. Dellebuur added police do have a couple of suspects in mind. Anyone with any information is asked to call Penticton RCMP at 250-493-4200 or Crime Stoppers.
