The RDOS has issued a state of local emergency for a section of Green Mountain Road in the Farleigh Lake area in Electoral Area ‘D’. Geotechnical assessments are underway, and the state of local emergency will be reviewed once the assessments are complete. A state of local emergency is not an evacuation alert, but once declared provides the RDOS additional authority to conduct assessments or undertake precautionary works.

The RDOS emergency operations centre has identified Farleigh Lake and the area of Green Mountain Road as an ongoing area of concern. Record high snow pack has a high potential of creating further slope instability and flooding in the area. Residents are advised to monitor their properties and any slopes that may have the potential to run onto their properties.

Meanwhile, 148 properties in the Sportsmens Bowl Road area north of Oliver remain on evacuation alert, along with 16 properties in the Green Lake area near Okanagan Falls, due to flooding in the region.

Property owners and residents can contact the RDOS emergency operations centre at 250-490-4225 and check the RDOS website for updates.
