The municipality of Summerland is one of the Four Seasons Cultural Society’s Pow Wow Between the Lakes sponsors this year.
Earlier in 2025, the municipality approved directing $8,000 to support the event.
By providing silver sponsorship, Council is proud to support the event that aims to bring together the eight bands of the Syilx Okanagan Nation to celebrate indigenous culture and advance reconciliation, the municipality says.
The Pow Wow Between the Lakes will be held at Penticton’s South Okanagan Events Centre, July 18 to 20.
This three-day gathering will showcase competitive dancing, drumming, cultural demonstrations and a showcase of the traditions and connections of Indigenous communities from the region and beyond.
“The District of Summerland and council are honoured to sponsor the Pow Wow Between the Lakes. This is a syilx-led celebration and expression of Indigenous culture. It’s also a great opportunity for learning for all attendees. We look forward to the Powwow and wish the organizers a very successful event,” said Coun. Erin Trainer, Summerland’s deputy mayor.
Kristine Jack, director of the Four Seasons Cultural Society, thanked the community for the sponsorship.
“Lim Limplt to the City of Summerland for continuing to support our cultural event. We want to give a Lim Limplt for all whom have supported and continuing support for our powwow to be celebrated again at the South Okanagan Events Centre,” she said.
