TD Tree Days in Penticton are looking for volunteers

Volunteers needed to help plant 243 trees and shrubs this weekend

Organizers of TD Tree Days are looking for volunteers to help plant 243 trees and shrubs this weekend.

The trees and shrubs will be planted along a newly restored section of Penticton Creek from 9 a.m. to noon at 155 Nanaimo Ave. on Sept. 23. The goal of the program is to have one million trees planted across North America by 2030.

Volunteers must register at www.tdtreedays.com/en-ca/events/922-penticton-creek are reminded to dress for the weather and wear closed toed study footwear. As well, volunteers should arrive 15 minutes earlier than the start time to check in with the site leader and receive the TD Tree Days T-shirt. Garden gloves will be provided, however, volunteers can bring their own.

The site leader will hold a brief welcome huddle before planting begins where instructions on how to property plant the trees/shrubs will be shared.

Organizers note that the planting will take place near the creek and children will need to be supervised.
