After more than two years of waiting, Tesla and electric vehicle owners can get their vehicles powered up with Osoyoos’ charging station.
The station on 74th Avenue is now open, with all eight of the Tesla superchargers and the three FLO fast chargers ready for use.
Tesla had approached the town in 2019 with the proposal for the charging station, which was approved by council in June 2019.
As part of the proposal, Tesla put up the funds for the installation of the station as well as for the maintenance.

National Resources Canada also supported the project with funding for the three generic chargers.
A separate four charging stations at another location in downtown Osoyoos were a part of the original proposal, but the funding for that expansion is no longer available and is not currently being considered for the future, according to Town of Osoyoos staff.
