Thinking of running in the next Penticton election? Nomination period opens soon

Those seeking office in the upcoming municipal election can file their nomination documents as early as next week.

Public office roles for the Oct. 15 election in Penticton include mayor, six council seats and four positions as a school trustee.

People can file their documents starting at 9 a.m., Aug. 30.

The city’s chief election officer, Angie Collison, is encouraging interested candidates to make appointments to file their papers to ensure “the process is as smooth as possible.”

The nomination period ends Sept. 9 at 4 p.m.

Appointments for filing nomination papers can be booked by emailing election@penticton.ca or calling 250-490-2410.
