An anonymous letter threatening harm to students in Penticton and Okanagan Falls schools was found Wednesday morning.

School District 67 issued a press release Wednesday afternoon stating students and staff at Skaha Lake Middle School and Princess Margaret Secondary School found photocopies of the letter threatening to harm students at Penticton Secondary School and Okanagan Falls Elementary School.
"Today there have been RCMP members located at several schools in the district. They stayed on site for the remainder of the school day," said the press release. "Schools locked exterior doors, with the exception of the main entrance, which is being monitored. Staff at the schools have been briefed."
Following the school district community threat assessment protocol, RCMP and relevant agencies co-operated to ensure the safety of students and staff and to identify the threat maker.
"There are several other RCMP members working to identify the source of the correspondence. This is a serious situation and we hope through our collaborative response we will be able to identify the individual responsible," said the school district press release.
Sgt. Rick Dellebuur said Penticton RCMP are releasing a copy of the threats as written in hopes that the public can assist further in this investigation.
"Although there is no known imminent danger to students or staff, Penticton RCMP are concerned and taking pro-active investigation steps in an effort to determine who is responsible. Officers have been deployed to several schools as a precaution to ensure continued safety at the schools until a suspect can be identified," said Dellebuur.
