On Wednesday at about 7 p.m., Vernon RCMP received a call about a westbound truck pulling a trailer going off the road on Highway 97 by Round Lake. The vehicle struck a hydro pole and went down a 200-foot embankment.

"The driver was the only occupant and had injuries to his hands. He may have received other injuries as well," said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson, adding that the 67-year-old Penticton man was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

The tractor-trailer unit will be removed Thursday morning.
