A city worker looks into the hole created to fix a broken water main Sunday in downtown Penticton.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane on Main Street as city crews scramble to repair a broken water main.

The break at the intersection of Main Street and Wade Avenue was discovered around 10 a.m. and reportedly flooded at least one nearby business.

A hole approximately five metres square has been opened up in the intersection to repair the 45-centimetre pipe.

An official on site said it could be "hours" before the street is repaired.
