Weekly COVID-19 cases steady in South Okanagan Similkameen

Cases dropped in Keremeos after their recent record high week

The total number of new weekly COVID-19 cases across the South Okanagan Similkameen stayed the same despite shifts in how they are distributed.

Across the South Okanagan Similkameen, there were 67 cases over Oct. 17 to 23 and over Oct. 10 to 16.

Penticton recorded 33 cases over Oct. 17 to 23, up from 28 and the Southern Okanagan recorded 14, up from 10.

Weekly cases in Keremeos swung back down after recent record-high numbers of 19 cases over Oct. 10 to 16, down to just three cases over the most recent week.

Summerland’s weekly cases doubled from seven to 14 over the most recent week. Cases in Penticton and the Southern Okanagan local health areas both rose.

Princeton’s weekly cases stayed steady at three for the last two weeks.

Vaccination rates continued to climb slowly across the region with single percentage point growths between the last two weeks.

Penticton is currently sitting at 82 per cent of people aged 12 and over with both doses, 83 per cent in the Southern Okanagan and Summerland, 76 per cent in Keremeos and 77 per cent in Princeton.
