A key piece of work on the new West Bench water system will prompt the closure of the community’s main access route this weekend.
West Bench Hill Road will close Saturday at 8 p.m. and reopen Monday at 4 a.m. to allow for the installation of a new water main, according to the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen.
Motorists are advised to detour on Sage Mesa Drive or West Hills Drive.
“The reward to the community of West Bench for a weekend of patience will be a water system that is that much closer to being completed and a newly paved West Bench Hill Road,” RDOS engineer Liisa Bloomfield said in a press release.
Installation of the new pipe is part of a $9.7-million system upgrade that will connect the West Bench to the City of Penticton’s water supply.
