With the Penticton Indian Band firefighters attacking it from above and Penticton firefighters from below, a small wild fire in the West Bench area didn’t have a chance to spread.
The fire, which broke out early Thursday morning at about 7:30 a.m. near Sunglo Drive, was considered under control by 8 a.m. The fire covered about a quarter-hectare in a wild land area, and no homes were threatened.
Crews remain on scene, mopping up and monitoring for hot spots.
