Police are once again warning people that internet offers which appear too good to be true, probably are.

This comes on the heels a report by a local woman about being bilked out of about $10,000 on a “questionable” investment.

“It was an online Facebook messenger requesting money but it was a hacked Facebook account,” said Cpl. Ted Manchulenko of Penticton RCMP. “It was sent to a person who was unable to be located by either the bank or Facebook.

“There’s lots of very reputable charities that are looking for money and that’s all good but if you’re looking for a quick buck on your own dollar chances are it’s not going to work out for you.”

He added any requests for money should be cleared through the financial institution involved and family if applicable.

This matter remains under investigation.
