Oliver residents can almost taste the Blizzards and banana splits as the new Dairy Queen gets underway.

Residents are clearly excited about the new restaurant coming to the corner of Main Street and Veterans Avenue.

The 60-seat restaurant and drive-thru will be just one part of the development the property. There is also an attached 1,900 square foot retail building and four two-bedroom residential units on the second floor.

Oliver town council gave their approval back in April, and the clearing of the site is currently underway.

Originally the site was a gas station, before being converted into a single family dwelling that was then eventually demolished in 2009. Since then, the lot had sat empty.
