Mom was born on May 15, 1930 in Přichovice, Czechia. She escaped the Communist regime with her brother Vincent in 1949 to West Germany and was sponsored to Canada by her future in-laws. Mom and Dad were married 1951 and settled in Penticton where they lived and raised their large family. Mom's parents moved from Czech to live with the family in 1966. Mom started her career in the Dietary Department of PRH, where she began as a cook then completed her diploma as a Food Services Technologist. Mom was widowed in 1990, married Duncan Proudlock in 2005, and was widowed again in 2006.
Mom had the gift of kindness and hospitality. Our home was open to hockey and school billets, Czech refugees, friends and neighbours, family from Europe and Australia, Friendship Force Club tours and family celebrations. She was a gifted cook and baker, a self-taught hairdresser, a gardener, a caregiver for her grandchildren, a line and ballroom dancer, and a devoted friend. Mom was President the Red Cross, was a member of the Legion and PRH Alumni and participating in many activities at the Senior's Drop-in Centre. Mom enjoyed travelling, spending time in many countries in Europe, Australia, Japan, Costa Rica, Mexico and many places in Canada and the US.
We thank the staff of Haven Hill Care Centre for their tender loving care of our Mom these last three and a half years, and to Dr. Tatham who treated her like his own grandmother.
A Celebration of Life will be held in May of 2025, interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery next to Dad. It is with deep gratitude, we thank Our Father in heaven for the gift of our loving and courageous Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
We will miss your glorious smile.
