May 31, 1926 - June 28, 2019
Anna Schloegl passed away peacefully in Penticton on June 28, 2019. She lived a long and full life. All who knew her will remember her humor, understanding and positive outlook.
Anna had an open mind and adventurous spirit. Born in Czechoslovakia, Canada gave her all the opportunity she could only dream of growing up. She got to be a teacher, a nurse, a business owner, a mentor, a friend, a wife, a mother, an inspiration. She met her husband, Otto, in Medicine Hat and their two children, Sonia and Sascha, were born in Mayo, Yukon; where she worked a nurse and Otto worked in the mine. She loved to learn, getting a Masters degree in Special Education after the family moved to Edmonton. In 1976, Anna and Otto moved to Penticton and she became the matron and owner of Haven Hill Retirement Centre. After Haven Hill, she spent time working at the Penticton Hospital. She enjoyed the lifestyle Penticton had to offer. Swimming, skiing and hiking were among the many things she did. In her 70's, Anna and her granddaughter of 15 hiked the West Coast Trail. She did love challenges.
Anna was blessed with good friends. She was involved with the German club, with the Hospital Alumni, with the Book Club at the Library, with the Friendship Club.
Anna was a woman ahead of her time. To a life well lived, it was a gift to share time with you
