January 17, 1929 - January 9, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and friend Beniamina (Bina) Bordin. We were fortunate to hold her hands, chat and say our goodbyes during her final week in Penticton Regional Hospital.
She will be missed by her only daughter Elisa (Rae), her three sons Carlo Jr.(Darlene), Marino (Hilary) and Domenico (Bonita). Her grandchildren Olivia, Dominic, Carlin, Marino, Matteo and her great-grandson Peter.
Bina was born in Maser, Italy. She married Carlo Bordin (also from Maser) in 1960 and immigrated to Canada that same year. They settled in Blind River, Ontario. Carlo worked full time in the Uranium mines of Elliot Lake, while Bina focussed on raising the family.
In 1989, Bina and Carlo followed their children west and settled in Naramata. While Carlo tended to his new vineyard and garden, Bina spent her time helping Elisa as the seamstress at Urbana Clothing Company. Urbana clients will remember Bina's warm smile and perfect alterations.
Following the death of Carlo in 2011, and after spending several years in her own home, Bina moved into Haven Hill Retirement Centre and spent 5 years with the girls in Lower Cherry Pod. A special thank you is owed to the incredible staff for their compassionate care, including Lina, Michelle, Marilyn, Cathy, Jill and many others. They, like us, will miss Bina's sparkling blue eyes, her sense of humour and her Italian conversations. A special thank you to Dr. Paisley.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
