Charlein Enns (nee Karrer) passed away on June 10 at the age of 95. Despite loss of vision and declining health for several years she bravely remained independent in her own home. Charlein was a Penticton pioneer, coming to the Okanagan from Alberta as a teenager. Her sister Lena had a ranch in Summerland. Later, her sister Eda, brother Rudy and parents moved to Penticton and ultimately all the families owned and operated their own orchards. Charlein was an active sports woman enjoying fishing, hunting and boating. She was a member of the Penticton golf and curling clubs. She was a wonderful cook, baker and gardener. Having an adventurous spirit she traveled alone to S. America, Africa and Europe making life-long friends along the way. She became a realtor and was elected president of the Okanagan Realty Board. Her honesty and integrity earned her the respect and affection of those who knew her. She will be sorrowfully missed by her two sons Randy and Rhody, daughter-law Evelyn, wonderful nieces and nephews, and many friends. A celebration of Charlein’s life will take place at Sandbridge Clubhouse, 3333 South Main St, Penticton. June 24, 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
