January 8, 1932 - December 6, 2018
Passed away peacefully at Haven Hill Retirement Center in Penticton on December 6, 2018 at the age of 86 years.

Derrick will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret. Daughters; Susan Maitland (Doug) of Kamloops, BC, Tina Goodwin (Dennis) of Penticton, BC, and son Shaun Whittlesey (Patti Lawton) of Penticton, BC. Four grandchildren; Kent (Kelly) and Kurt (Penny Philp), Colin (Sherri), Chrissy. Ten great grandchildren; Zan, Brynn, Riley, Jayda, Billy, Sariya, Rauri, Maeva, Ezekiel and Marceline.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephew in Britain and Canada. Derrick was sadly predeceased by his parents; Darling and Sarah of Bulwell, Nottingham, England, also 10 siblings and their spouses.

Derrick and Margaret were married on March 29, 1952 in Bulwell, Nottingham, England and have been happily married for 66 years. Derrick was known as "Wick" when he worked in the coal mine in Britain. He immigrated to Canada in July 1968 to 100 Mile House joining his brother Ralph and sister Alice. He worked as a custodian at School district 27. Derrick and Margaret moved to Penticton in October of 1979 where he worked as a Custodian until his retirement in 1992.

His main interests were his family, soccer, gardening, camping, and wood work. He was known as Mr. Fix Anything and he was also known for his perfectly manicured yard.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 1:30 pm. at Saint Michaels All Angels Anglican Church, 2858 Mill Street, Chemainus, B.C. Reception to follow at Parish Hall.

Donation in his name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Diabetes Canada.
