1922 - 2016

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of their Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend. Mom left us quietly and peacefully on July 29, 2016 at 90 years of age, with her family by her side. She will forever be held near and dear in our hearts.

Mom was born May 13, 1926 in Duck Lake, Sask, the youngest of 5, to Paul and Alexina. She moved to Vancouver in 1953, working as a typist for Canadian Stevedoring. She and Lucien (Lou) married on July 31, 1954 and over the years had seven children, moving to Coquitlam in 1963. In 1975 the family made the Okanagan their home. Music was always a joy and inspiration to Des and Lou, family and friends. Mom’s strong faith in God was her foundation through all life’s challenges and joys.

Des was predeceased by husband Lou in 1987, grandson Jorden in 2014, as well as her beloved sister Yvonne and 3 brothers Wilfred, Edmour, and Joe. She is survived by her daughter Julia (Bruce), Guy (Rosalie), Rene (Shelley), Ray (Cathy), Greg (Amy), Lorri (John), Paul (Tracy), numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

Special thanks to Dr Kooy, for care given over the years.

The family would like to extend special appreciation for the loving caregivers and volunteers at the Village by the Station for their compassion, care, and friendship extended to Mom and family.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday August 6th, at 10:30 am at St Ann’s Church, Penticton, by Father Rex Velmonte, Celebrant.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
