In loving memory ~

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dr. Allan Ivan Romanchuk who passed away January 4, 2025, at the age of 72.

Al was born on August 2nd, 1952, in Edmonton Alberta. He is survived by his wife, Donna (nee Wallace), children, Steven Romanchuk (Jennifer), Karen Keylock (Rand), siblings, Alice Laberge (Larry), Donna Romanchuk, grandchildren, James, Louis, Beatrice and Clark Romanchuk, Ava and Ben Keylock and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Lou and Violet Romanchuk.

Al lived a full life of dedication and kindness. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Alberta in 1975 and while attending medical school he met his future wife, Donna. They were married in September 1979 settling in Penticton, B.C. to practice medicine and to raise a family together. Al was also a keen duplicate bridge player, where his sharp mind and strategic thinking shone. When he retired and moved to Victoria in 2016, he was content playing bridge several times a week.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on March 29 in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lifewater Canada (lifewater.ca) in memory of Allan Romanchuk, an organization that Al believed in and felt made a lasting impact. To honor his generosity, the family will match any donations made in his memory.

Though he may no longer be with us, the love and memories Al leaves behind will continue to inspire and guide us for years to come. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
